Yap Online Dictation is a free web tool for speech to text. Press record, speak, and get text you can edit, copy or download as a .txt file.

Speech is recognized in your browser with OpenAI's Whisper model, so your voice is never uploaded. Choose English mode, or Any language mode, which recognizes 99 languages with automatic detection. Each recording can run up to 2 minutes, and you can make as many as you like.

A one-time model download of about 80 MB is cached by the browser, after which recognition works without a connection. Nothing is stored on a server and there is no account. Works best in current desktop Chrome or Edge.
